Larry Yeung
Executive Director aka “Our Chief of the office”
Larry is a designer and community organiser who is a strong advocate for a participatory and community-centric design in Singapore. Since his graduation from the National University of Singapore with a M. Arch, Larry’s portfolio of participatory-based projects include neighbourhood planning, public space design, and community art installations.
Larry has also been recognised as a World Cities Summit Young Leader in 2021, honouring him as one of the change-makers shaping the global urban agenda, as well as a recipient of the BCA-CPG Industrial scholarship and the URA Urban Design prize in 2014.
Mui Ping Lim
Principal Associate (Projects) aka “Our Sassy Hands-on Super Girl”

Muiping is a social designer and illustrator. Having previously practiced user experience, product design and project management in Singapore, she is currently the Principal Associate (Projects) of Participate in Design (P!D). She have always love drawing and created her own illustration brand - Bleak illustration documenting the hardship of design life. She learns about material properties from her Diploma in User Experience and Product Design in Singapore Polytechnic and have prior knowledge of 3D printing while working in the design industry, after furthering her studies in NAFA 3D Design. Her passion for community design and arts saw her leading several key participatory-based works over the years, working alongside grassroot organisations, public agencies and communities, in co-creating design solutions to improve the lives of people.
Amira Komari
Principal Associate (Comms & Design) aka “Our ray of sunshine and design maverick”
Amira is a graphic designer who believes in the power of color and fun and uses design as a tool to bridge communication and to foster relationships. Her love for participatory design bloomed after she completed her thesis on encouraging social interaction between people with young-onset Alzheimer’s. Amira has worked with local communities to develop toolkits for people with Alzheimer’s and produced exhibitions championing for wellbeing in old age. She is a family girl at heart and when basking in the luxury of time, she enjoys slow walks in the park. Amira graduated with a BFA in Visual Communication from the School of Art, Design and Media (NTU) in 2018.
Lean Qihao
Senior Associate (Projects) aka “Our kind critic”
Qihao has a strong interest in community design since his days in college. Having been trained in urban planning and geography in the National University of Singapore, as well as project management in the public sector, he is now the Senior Associate (Projects) of Participate in Design, acting as a project manager and community facilitator, working closely with different stakeholders and government agencies to deliver various participatory design centric projects in Singapore.
Jocelyn Lim
Associate (Comms & Design) aka “Our best ex-intern”

Jocelyn is a firm believer that the design process is never ending and there is no fixed solution to satisfy everyone needs because everyone has their unique perspective. Through P!D, she strive to design for people, not just for them by applying her facilitation and participatory design skills.
Having been involved with various community-centric projects since her internship days with P!D, Jocelyn now joins us as our Associate (Design) to continue designing with people and not just for them.
Jocelyn graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Design Communication, Design and Visual Communications in 2020.
Meet the
P!D Co-Founders
Jan Lim
Co-founder, Director (Research & Strategy)
Jan is an architecturally-trained community organiser who works closely with everyday people, to develop their capacity for influencing the built environment. Her work in design and facilitation has spanned the public, private and third sectors, from her time as Co-Executive Director of P!D from 2013 to 2016, and prior to that, a design consultant at ONG&ONG Experience Design. She is a PY Fellow under the Philip Yeo Innovation Fellows Programme, having been awarded PY Associate in 2014; a World Cities Summit Young Leader since 2018; and a Gen.T Leader of Tomorrow (2020 List). She graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a M.Arch, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at KU Leuven, Belgium, researching on the socio-political context of citizen participation in planning.
Mizah Rahman
In Loving Memory of our Co-founder aka “Our Girl Boss at P!D”
Mizah was a designer, community organizer, and strong advocate for a participatory and community-centric approach in the design and planning of cities and neighbourhoods. She was an Associate Lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, School of Design and Environment, and previously a researcher at the National University of Singapore’s Centre for Sustainable Asian Cities. Since the thesis for her Masters of Architecture at the National University of Singapore, Mizah’s portfolio of participatory-based works expanded to include neighbourhood planning, public space design, and community art installations; working in partnership with grassroots organisations, educational institutions, civic groups and government agencies. Her standing in the participatory design field saw her being invited to present at various local and international platforms including the New Cities Summit 2017, Asian Pacific Urban Youth Assembly organized by UN-Habitat, TedXBondUniversity and World Architecture Festival. She was a finalist in the Makers of More Challenge by Ashoka Changemakers, in 2015 and was nominated as a World Cities Summit Young Leader in 2018. She also sat on the Singapore Heritage Society Exco Board.
Mizah passed away in 2020 after a brave fight against cancer. Her strength and kindness will always be fondly remembered, and her love for designing with communities continues to live on in the work that P!D does.

P!D Fellows
Lee Li Fang (Pictured centre)
Fellow
Li Fang is an analyst with a strong passion in developing the community’s interest and potential to build up their own environments. Inspired by the extent of public responsibility in Swiss cities, she believes that public participation creates a more equitable and loved environment for many. She enjoys using her professional skills to provide data supported analysis for the design community. During her free time, she delights in being involved with community engagement projects with Participate in Design and also does exciting craft programmes and hands-on land building and maintenance activities with Ground-Up Initiative to keep a grounded connection to the Earth.
Jarrod Choo (Pictured centre)
Fellow
Jarrod is a Master in Public Policy candidate at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, with a strong interest urban and social policy. He has been volunteering with P!D since October 2017. A former student of sociology, Jarrod believes that community participation is vital for well-designed urban spaces and social programs, and for giving residents a greater sense of ownership in the development of liveable cities. He has also embarked on research and projects around social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and design thinking. Outside of school, Jarrod spends time seeking out new additions to his (unhealthily large) collection of floral shirts.
P. Keerthana (Pictured left)

As a Health Policy Analyst in Ministry of Health’s Behavioural Insights Unit, Keerthana is part of an innovative team seeking to understand and nudge behaviours so as to design more effective, evidence-based health policies and processes. She is also an advocate for a community and participatory approach towards effective and citizen centric policy design. Given her passion and interest in the area of research and designing for social impact, this fellowship programme gives Keerthana the privilege and opportunity to work closely together with communities, brainstorm innovative solutions to address challenges and perform research groundwork to better understand the needs and challenges of communities.
Darian Tan (Pictured left)

Having trained in geography, Darian makes sense of the world through its spaces and the societies (hidden or otherwise) that occupy it. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2018. Through his training, he developed a keen interest revolving society, digitality, and space. Ultimately, this interest culminated in a dissertation on geolocative applications. In 2015, he was also awarded the Media Education Scholarship (MES) by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, Singapore. He is now designing K-12 educational products as a Digital Solutions Strategist.
Tan Zhuo Hui (Pictured left)

Zhuo Hui is a graphic designer who is passionate about design thinking and social design. She sees design as an effective agent for social change as it is both humble in its user-centred approach and powerful in its ability to radically rethink our everyday spaces and routines. For her BFA (Visual Communication) thesis project, she created a design thinking workshop for children from lower-income families to guide them in transforming their ideas into creative projects. Similarly, she believes that communities can offer valuable perspectives to the design of their public spaces, and aims to make co-creation even more fun and meaningful by innovating new community-engagement methods.
