P!D Fellowship open call


Calling all passionate social creatives!

We are now accepting applications for 2019/2020 P!D Fellowship Program!

P!D Fellowship is a unique opportunity for individuals to apply a community and people-centric approach in our neighbourhoods. Through P!D’s efforts to empower youths through participatory design, P!D is inviting two fellows to join the P!D School programme. Fellows will get hands-on experience working under the mentorship of the P!D team. The fellowship will begin in December 2019 and will run through March 2020.

Selected fellows will have the opportunity to work with the P!D team and our community partners to address a social issue through design, planning and art.


Here are two exciting projects for you to get involved:

1. Building Community Resilience

About the Project

To partner communities, researchers and agencies in encouraging collective action and preparing for climate change. You will learn about climate change impacts and explore ways to co-create your ideas together.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to conduct on-the-ground research and analysis

  • Work with the team to develop ideas and plans for publicity and marketing strategies

  • Assist the team in planning, managing and executing pop-up and workshop materials to effectively build community resilience to prepare for climate change


2. Arts@MacPherson

About the Project

Arts@MacPherson is a series of art initiatives which aims to create delight in everyday experiences through pops of unexpected art around the neighbourhood. From August 2019 to March 2020, MacPherson residents will come together with artists to enliven their public spaces through the co-creation of four community arts projects. From the everyday to the extraordinary, these permanent creative installations will celebrate MacPherson as they will be inspired by the resident’s own memories and stories of their neighbourhood.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to conduct on-the-ground research and analysis

  • Work with the team to develop ideas and plans for publicity and marketing strategies

  • Assist the team in programme outreach and producing press releases


Commitment:  

  • Weekend and Weekday (flexible timing)

  • 1-2 days per week, depending on the intensity of the project phase (flexible timing)

  • This is a position for a minimum period of 4 months. Fellowship to start in December 2019 and will end in March 2020.


We are looking for someone who has:

  • Passion working with communities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Efficiency in your specific mother tongue language and dialect will be a bonus

  • Some experience facilitating and is comfortable to talk to people

  • Open to learn and take feedback

  • Enjoys research and is a team player

  • Cares about people and the community

Send us a CV and a short write-up (max. 200 words) highlighting which project you would like to be attached to and why, your interest in participatory design, any participatory design experiences that you may have had, and examples of participatory design that have particularly inspired you and why. If you have a portfolio of your work, please submit that as well.
