Practical Approaches on Participatory Arts (2015) was an introductory workshop for artists and arts practitioners interested in working with communities. A partnership with the National Arts Council (NAC) and Pasir Ris West, this workshop aimed to offer an alternative framework, including some practical tools and approaches, that participants could use to extend their own artistic practices with communities across Singapore.
Participants ranged from visual, literary and performance artists to arts programme administrators and educators. At its core, this one-day sampler was designed to pique participants' interest to continue exploring the realm of participatory arts, and to further define for themselves what it means to truly engage communities.
